Hollow Form Hidden Compartment Necklace with Handmade Chain and Garnet Key Clasp
This substantial necklace has many details integrated into a contemporary design. I have constructed it with hollow form layers and overlays inside a sleek oval silhouette. On the front is an 18k gold "eyespot" and a garnet, which also functions as a key clasp. The key clasp is inserted and removed through the back of the necklace and rotated to lock into place. The back also holds another secret: the geometrically patterned back layer flips up to reveal a small hidden compartment, perfect for a photo, lip gloss, or other small item.
• I have fused a fine layer of gold dust into the surface of the curved overlay on the front, and given the silver a dark patina and a matte finish.
• The locket snaps securely closed with an inner tension sleeve. The hinges are hidden under the back.
• The hollow form measures just under 1 1/2" by about 1 1/8”.
• The faceted round garnet is 3mm in diameter.
• The substantial, large-link handmade sterling silver chain is 20" long and is made of thick 16 gauge silver. Please contact me if you would like to add or remove links after purchase. Each swirling leaf link (plus small connecting link) is about 1 1/4" long.
